Saving Face is the story of Celia, a twenty-something following her dreams at university – boyfriend, studying, partying – before she is brutally confronted by the limitations of her body. Exploring the impact of invisible disabilities, how they warp the already difficult transitions from teenager to adult, this play questions what self-acceptance costs in an ableist world. Written for an ensemble of nine actors, the piece delves into the intricacies of Celia’s daily existence, breaking down expectations and stereotypes in the search for a more honest and theatrical representation of how disability can affect your romances, your friendships, your education, your career, your self-worth and your independence.
