Multi award-winning singer, actress and piano player, Leisa Keen brings us a vibrant celebration of the musical journey of Australia’s sweetheart, Olivia Newton-John.
From the early days of country music and Eurovision, to the musical movies of Grease and Xanadu, and to the rock sensation that was Physical—Olivia’s musicality spanned decades and won the hearts of millions of people, all over the world. (Great name for a song….).
At the age of eight, Leisa Keen was mesmerised by Olivia’s movie performances in Grease and Xanadu, resulting in a determined early life decision to become a singer! After studying classical piano for 12 years, Leisa went on to study jazz vocals at the ANU School of Music. Leisa has directed, musically directed, and performed in over 150 musicals and concerts, winning CAT Awards for best Actress in a Musical and Best Musical Director, and a Canberra Critics Circle Award for her contributions to music as a vocalist/pianist and musical director.
Over the last 30 years, Leisa has worked with many acclaimed artists such as The Manhattan Transfer, Simon Gallaher, Jon English, Noni Hazelhurst, Todd McKenney, and Amanda Muggleton.
In Olivia-I Honestly Love You, Leisa is backed by a stunning 6-piece live band and 3 backing singers, featuring some of Australia’s finest and most versatile musicians. Joining Leisa, for the iconic duets, is the dynamite singer and entertainer, Tony Mazell. Together, these 11 musicians present the powerful and emotionally captivating hit songs of one of the greatest stars in Australian history, such as Let Me Be There, Banks of the Ohio, Hopelessly Devoted, Physical, I Honestly Love You, and of course, some of the best songs from Grease and Xanadu.
Leisa Keen is honoured to bring the joy of Olivia’s music to the stage, paying tribute to her greatest influence and inspiration.
